It’s a love thing – wedding rings

Summer is the most popular time to get married with one in five being held in August so as we approach this busy season I hope to inspire and guide those of you to plan to tie the knot or perhaps renew your vows.

When it comes to finding the perfect wedding ring, the journey can feel both exciting and overwhelming. Understanding the latest trends, your personal style, materials, metals, gemstones and of course budget; it can feel never ending.

Some styles have stood the test of time and remain eternally in vogue. The best examples of these are plain wedding rings which are timeless choices but there are interesting alternatives to consider. So why not look for a ring that not only represents your love, but also fits your unique personality and lifestyle.

The biggest shift in trends has been for the ladies who may now choose a diamond set wedding ring rather than a traditional plain one. The advantage of this is that they look great worn together or on their own and add that little sparkle!

A little more thought has to be taken when purchasing an engagement ring particularly vintage ones, as some of these were never designed to sit against another ring. It will therefore require finding the correct profile to ensure both rings don’t rub together which can cause damage. If this is the case, a shaped wedding ring may work or consider using our design work service to achieve the perfect fit.

This year in particular, wedding rings have just got that little bit more interesting with shaped bands that will fit neatly around a modern engagement ring. Take a look at some of the fabulous ‘new’ shaped designs with diamond detailing that runs along the top section to give a well-balanced look – wishbone shapes in particular are very effective.

To add a further dimension to the diamond set wedding ring is the ‘tiara’ ring which resembles a mini crown on your finger! We illustrate just one of these more creative designs.

I love the subtlety of this narrow wedding ring with a straight edge and a frill on the other side. The one pictured has a milgrain beaded detail creating a delicate effect resembling lace.
Gents can also choose from a greater range of design, metal choice and finishes. Rings are available not only in coloured golds, platinum but also tungsten, black zirconium or silver.

Remember personalisation is an important additional touch, whether it is engraved initials, wedding date or some special words that mean something between both of you. It symbolizes your love and your life journey together.

Finally, another thought! I’ve always wanted to offer a recycling service and repurpose your unwanted or sentimental jewellery. Our goldsmith working in our onsite workshop can now offer this and create a beautiful new wedding ring.

Happy wedding day – Sally x
